from Jeannie: When we leave for China we always wonder what adventures we may have. When in a foreign country something is bound to happen. I checked two large boxes of orphan supplies each weighing 52 pounds. They were to check to Shanghai where I had to claim them and recheck them on my China Eastern flight to Kunming. Both boxes were checked in at the same time. When I arrived in Kunming only only one box had made it. Working with baggage claim they said they couldn't find it. I'm not real sure how you can loose a 52 pound box! After 24 hours and being delayed to the next city where we will be working and attending the wedding we are back at the airport to claim the box that was finally found. We again are delayed because of the heavy fog. The much needed box of supplies is still out there so we still wait and it is 1:15 a.m.
Occasionally we are asked why we choose to ship items to China as opposed to purchasing them there. It's a great question and we want to let our donors know why we work this way.
